Troop Quartermaster Duties -------------------------- If you cannot attend a campout, appoint a delegate to perform QM duties. Before Campout ---- Find out if any special equipment is needed and make sure it is in the trailer using the "Troop Supplies" equipment list. For example, extra dutch ovens, extra PDS, ropes and spars for pioneering. Check propane tanks. Use "Troop Supplies" list and make sure that all consumable items are available. Check flashlight and battery lanterns. Secure EVERYTHING in the trailers with straps and bungees. Make sure American and Troop 81 flags are brought to camp. Check the external runing lights and internal dome lights in the trailers. Check the first aid kit. During Campout --- Set up and break down flagpole. You are the Troop Garbage Man. You should control access to the trailers. After Campout ---- Check ALL coolers and dry boxes for perishable items. Distribute or discard all perishables immediately after a campout. Check/clean pots used for coffee and hot chocolate Check/clean coolers used for bug juice Check PDS for all pieces Clean the trailer floor periodically. In addition to the above duties, the troop QM should periodically inspect tents, lanterns, tools, stoves and repair or replace any equipment that needs attention. Also, you should be familiar with where things are in the trailers. You are the authority, scouts and adults will ask you if we have things - like duct tape, for example - and where the things are.
